Iheanacho Back In Training After Injury Scare Against Steaua Bucuresti


Manager of Manchester City Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho is fit and ready to play in this weekend English Premier League tie against West Ham, despite leaving the pitch on a stretcher on Wednesday against Steaua Bucuresti.


The 19 year old went to the ground unchallenged while chasing a loose ball, and appeared to be close to losing consciousness before an opponent came to his aid, ahead of the arrival of the medical team.

He was subsequently substituted and taken out on a stretcher, leading to speculations that he could be set for an extended spell on the touch line.

Reports in Nigeria also increased the fears over his injury, with many media outlet suggesting he could be miss Nigeria AFCON 2017 dead rubber qualifiers against Tanzania in Uyo.

However, Iheanacho was among the 30 players in training ahead of Sunday’s clash against West Ham United according to manager Pep Guardiola.

” Kelechi injury was almost nothing, so it was a scare but he’s fine. Everybody’s fit and ready, we trained with 30 players today”. He said at his pre match conference.
