Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru is not one of the names Nigerians are familiar with when discussing the country’s talent in the top flight league in Belgium.
However, the 19 year old who plays for newly promoted KAS Eupen has taken to life in the top flight of Belgium football with the ease of a veteran, which has put him as an early contender for one of the revelations of the season.
Onyekuru scored his second goal of the season from the first five games in Eupen’s 3-2 loss to Sporting Charleroi, most importantly his second goal in three games.
Last season he scored just six times for Eupen in the second division from a total of 19 games but he is four goals away from that tally after just 5 top flight games.
He is one of the three Nigerians on the books of the club, the other two been midfielder Anthony Bassey and George Jamabo.
