Super Eagles Coach Admits He Would Love To Have Ejaria & Akpom In His Squad For World Cup Qualifiers

The international future of Liverpool teen midfielder Ovie Ejaria and Arsenal forward Chuba Akpom, was one of the numerous questions asked the new manager of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr after the AFCON 2017 qualifiers game against Tanzania.

Ejaria was one of the stars for Liverpool in their pre season tour before picking up an injury in one of their games, which reduced his chances of forcing his way into the plans of manager Jurgen Klopp.

The former Nigeria U-17s trainee has however recovered from the knock and has played in friendly games for the main team, with appearances for the U-23s in the Premier League 2 under his belt as well.

Akpom back at Arsenal after a loan spell at Hull City last season, is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal but he has featured and even scored for the U-23s in their campaign in the Premier League 2.

The duo are reportedly on the radar of Nigeria even though they are eligible for England, with Akpom even playing for the English U-21s during this international break but Rohr insist he would love to have the duo in his team.

” If they (Akpom & Ejaria) are doing well, why not? We want our best legs for the World Cup qualifiers and if they happen to be among our best legs, we will do our best to cap them in our quest to reach the World Cup” He said.
