Ikeme’s Poor Form Could Lead Rohr To Hasten Talks With Enyeama Over Eagles Return

The poor form of the incumbent number one goal kepper of Nigeria Carl Ikeme for his English Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers, could lead to a quick recall for former Super Eagles captain and goalkepper Vincent Enyeama.

New coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr confirmed during the pre match conference before Nigeria’s game against Tanzania, that he plans to hold talks with erstwhile captain of the team Vincent Enyeama regarding a return back to the team.

The talks are yet to take place, with Rohr taking his time before deciding on a date for the talks. But things could move a bit faster, no thanks to the poor form of present number one shot stopper Carl Ikeme.

Ikeme has not been at his best for Wolverhampton Wanderers and, after conceding four goals yesterday as they crash to Burnley 4-0. He could be dropped by manager Walter Zenga of Wolves for their subsequent games, less than a month before Nigeria’s first World Cup qualifiers against Zambia.

However even Vincent Enyeama is currently not faring any better at Lille as the 34 year old also conceded four goals last week against Monaco in a 0-4 loss in the ligue 1. The second time he is picking the ball out of his net more than two times this season after conceding three goals in a 1-3 loss to Metz.
