Akpom Set To Start For Arsenal In EFL Cup As Nigeria Call Up Looms Large

England youth international Chuba Akpom who is a target for Nigeria at senior level, could be handed his first start of the season when Arsenal take on Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night.

Akpom is yet to make an appearance for Arsenal this season with the forward only getting games with the Under-23s in the Premier League 2, where he has two goals from their last two games.

However, manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly set to give him a chance to impress on Tuesday night against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup.

The forward who spent last season on loan to newly promoted English Premier League side Hull City, could also be in line for a shock call up to the Nigeria senior national team for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers which starts in October.

Already talks have taken place between parents of the 21 year old and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation over a potential switch to Nigeria from England.
