Chelsea U23s suffered a 1-2 loss to their Reading counterparts despite taking a first half lead through highly rated Nigerian teen prospect Ike Ugo.
Ugbo twice came close to giving Chelsea the lead but his efforts were slightly off target before finally burying his effort with a well placed header on the stroke of half time to give Chelsea the lead.
The goal was his second of the season for the U23s after making the step up from the U18s where he was stop scorer last season for the Chelsea lads who won their championship.
His goals were cancelled out by two second half efforts by the host but he almost help Chelsea draw level with an effort few minutes before full time, which was kept out by the Reading goalkepper.
Eligible for Nigeria and England, he has already represented England at youth level with Nigeria yet to make an approach for the teen, who is Chelsea’s leading marksman at youth level.
