Former Super Eagles Striker Ike Uche Celebrates Nigeria At 56 With Goal For Gimnastic Tarragona

Former Super Eagles forward Ike Uche found the back of the net for his second division side Gimnastic Tarragona on the day of Nigeria’s independence in their 1-1 draw with Sevilla Atletico.

Uche posted a happy 56th anniversary to Nigeria on her independence day celebration, before scoring his second goal from 7 league games for Gimnastic since his move this summer.

The 32 year old endured a barren spell in front of goal in seven games before breaking the duck today for struggling Gimnastic, who are placed 22nd in the second division league in Spain.

His career has tailed off a bit after a shock move to Tigres UANL of Mexico from Spanish La-Liga side Villarreal. He failed to settle down in Mexico and returned to Spain six months later on a loan deal to Malaga.

While on loan at Malaga last season, he failed to score in the three games he played for the team in the La-Liga, which made them turn down the option of making his loan deal permanent.
