Algeria FA Deny Making Move For Former AFCON Winning Coach Ahead Clash With Nigeria


The quest to appoint a coach ahead of their World Cup 2018 qualifiers tie with Nigeria in Uyo next month has put the football governing body of Algeria under immense pressure.


The FA have been forced to deal with so many speculations in the media as to who will succeed Milovan Rajevac, who left as coach shortly after their first game against Cameroon which ended 1-1 in front of their fans.

However, the FA have categorically deny making contact with former coach of Zambia Herve Renard, who won the 2012 AFCON with the Chipolopolo who are also in same group with Algeria.

He also won the 2015 AFCON with the Ivory Coast in 2015 to go into the record books as the first man to lift the title with two different nations.

Reinhard who is presently in charge of Morocco claimed he has been contacted by the Algeria FA to manage their team but president of the FA firmly deny the claims.

” Even when he was free, we didn’t make make approach to recruit him. So how do you expect us to contact him now that he is in charge of Morocco. It’s not true, we have not contacted him” Mohammed Raouraoua said.
