Little Known Nigerian Forward Patrick Igwe Scores But Rio Hero Etebo Steals The Headline In Cup Game


Hot in demand 19 year old Nigerian forward Patrick Igwe scored his 4th goal of the season in all competition for Alcanenense in their 1-2 loss to CD Feirense.


A reported target for Sporting Lisbon and Benfica, he has been making hay in the third division in Spain, with the strike against CD Feirense, his second in the Cup aside his two goals in the league.

Igwe drew third division Alcanenense level in the 57th minute and just when he thought his goal will force the game into a nervy finish. Nigeria Rio 2016 hero Oghenekaro Etebo popped up with the winning goal for Feirense in the 77th minute.

Etebo who is reportedly set to be called up to the senior Nigeria natuonal team for the qualifiers against Algeria in November, proved once again that his fitness issues are well behind him.

The goal was Etebo’s second goal in consecutive games since his return from the injury which ended his campaign at the Olympics for Nigeria, after his four goal haul in Nigeria’s opening 5-4 victory over Japan.
