The chances of out of favour Super Eagles midfielder Raheem Lawal returning to the team ahead of the tie against Algeria, has been dealt a serious blow.
26 year old Lawal last played for Nigeria in May during the friendly games against Luxembourg and Mali, before the appointment of new coach Gernot Rohr.
The midfielder who has 5 senior caps for Nigeria was rumoured to be pushing for a recall to the team, for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers game against Algeria on the 12th of November.
Group B leaders Nigeria will host group rivals Algeria in Uyo, in their second game as the qualification race for the World Cup in Russia hots up, but Lawal won’t be considered for selection by Nigeria.
According to his Turkish team Osmanlispor, he will be out for three weeks after picking up an injury, which lead to his substitution after 39 minutes, in their 2-2 draw against Villarreal in the Europa League.
