Hapoel Be’er Sheva dependable midfielder John Ogu has fired back at those criticizing his invitation by coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Algeria.
Ogu was among the new faces called up by the manager for the November 12 tie against Algeria in Uyo, but his inclusion has not gone down well with some football enthusiast in Nigeria.
His preference over Anderson Esiti of Gent, who starred in the Eagles last qualifiers against Zambia has divided opinion the most.
” I understand the sentiments of some people over my inclusion, am not the best player in Nigeria, am far from it but I keep on working hard to improve myself” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” One thing I believe in is hardwork and it has helped me maintain my spot in Israel for three seasons. The fans are very demanding just like that of the Super Eagles, but with hardwork I have made them believe in me.
. My focus now is doing well for the Super Eagles and as a team, victory over Algeria is our aim, better for Nigerians to join us in prayers”.
