Super Eagles Defender Ndidi Thriving In Midfield Role For Genk, Scores Second Europa League Goal

Wilfred Ndidi is showing his class and worth in midfield for his Belgian side Gent, scoring for the second consecutive game in the Europa League although they fell 3-5 to Athletic Bilbao.

In the reverse tie against the Spanish side two weeks ago, he scored the second goal in their 2-0 win in Belgium. He repeated same feat again in Spain scoring the second goal although he ended up on the losing side.

The former Nigeria junior international has seen an upturn in fortune since moving to a central midfield role from his primary role as a central defender.

Last season his goal against Club Brugge was voted the best goal in the Belgian League, a feat that made him a prime target for many European side notably Hamburg who were close to signing him this summer.

However despite been one of the most coveted midfielders in Belgium, he plays as a defender for Nigeria and during the Super Eagles last competitive game, he played as a right full back in the game which Nigeria won 2-1 away from home.
