Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo who is among the players expected to guard the Nigerian defence when they take on Algeria on the 12th of November, had his teammate to thank after his own goal almost cost his side.
Omeruo on loan from Chelsea to Alanyaspor scored an own goal in the 12th minute which drew visiting Gaziantepsor level, cancelling his team early lead.
However his side recovered to edge the visitors 4-3 in a keenly contested game in the Turkish Super League. The victory helped Alanyaspor halt a poor run of form, which left them with no win in their last four games.
On his part Omeruo has been ever present for the Turkish side, with 8 games to his name this season and two bookings in the process, in what is his fifth loan spell away from Chelsea.
23 year old Omeruo has in the past had two different loan spells with ADO Den Haag and Middlesbrough in addition to his time at loan at fellow Turkish side Kasimpasa.
