Cameroon Want Matip To Quit International Exile & Stop Iheanacho & Iwobi In WCQ

Coach of the Cameroonian team Hugo Broos has stepped up preparations for next year World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Nigeria by sounding out Liverpool defender Joel Matip to come out of international retirement.

Matip left the national team set up of Cameroon in 2015 after a disagreement but coach Broos hopes the defender can change his mind and play for the Lions once again.

The experience of the 25 year old will be vital to Cameroon’s hope of rescuing their bad start to the World Cup qualifiers campaign after two draws from their opening two games.

Cameroon are second in group B, four points behind leaders Nigeria and both team will clash in back to back game next year, a game that could potentially end Cameroon’s hope of qualifying for the World Cup in Russia base on the result of the games.

A veteran of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, he is expected to help sniff out the threat of the deadly attack line of the Super Eagles, which has helped the Eagles win their first two games of the qualifiers.
