Rohr Still Keen On Having Russian-Nigerian Idowu Play For Nigeria Despite Musa Mohammed Progress In Turkey


The desire of the coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr to have Russian-Nigerian Brian Idowu play for Nigeria is still very much alive despite Musa Mohammed new fortunes with Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

Rohr told Mohammed to sort out his club form if he intends to keep his place in the team after his first game in charge against Tanzania, but the former Nigeria U-17 and 20 captain failed to do as demanded by the coach.

His failure to get games for Istanbul Basaksehir cost him his spot in the games against Zambia and Algeria, but since then he has played twice for the high flying Turkish side in Cup games.

Despite his new found status, Rohr is reportedly still keen on having Idowu of Amkar Perm whom the Nigerian coach views as a better prospect than the former youth international.

24 year old Idowu, born to Nigerian parents in Russia will meet with the coach to discuss his international future with Nigeria, as he could be called up for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Cameroon.
