Recuperating Nigerian teen full back Nura Abullahi says he is aware that Catalan giants Barcelona made moves to sign him last season.
Nura won the hearts of the technical men of the Spanish side after dazzling in a UEFA Youth League tie for the Primavera side of Roma, and Barcelona immediately set the wheel in motion towards signing him.
However, the circumstances surrounding his loan move to Roma last season made it impossible, as the Serie A side had an agreement of first option of refusal with Serie B side Spezia where he was loaned from at the start of last season.
Roma exercised their option of buying off the Nigerian this summer and 18 year old Nura says he has no regret missing out on the move to Barcelona and he is fully focused on repaying the faith Roma has in him.
” If I say am not aware then am not saying the truth. The news was everywhere and I was sounded out by my representatives about the possibility of the deal happening, it didn’t work and am happy at Roma”, Nura told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” I want to justify the faith Roma has in me, the coach has so far been a father figure to me, I want to repay him by helping the team do well this season, Barcelona and their interest is well behind me now”.
