Scouts from English Premier League side Liverpool and that of Portuguese giants FC Porto are presently in Nigeria scouting for talent at the annual Gee-Lec Football tournament usually organised by Nigerian agent Babawo Mohammed.
The tournament started today with about ten teams taking to the pitch under the watchful eyes of the scouts at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
In the past talents like FC Porto duo of Chidozie Awaziem and Moses John were picked from the tournament while Suleiman Abdullahi (Eintracht Braunschweig, Germany) also played in the annual tournament.
Jacob Njoku who plays for Kiryat Shmona of Israel also played at the annual tournament, which has been expanded this year to accommodate more teams to give the scouts options.
The timing of the tournament is so done to enable the scouts factor the players into their transfer programme in the summer, when the window reopens for players transfer.
