The top scorer of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Stephen Odey has been declared missing by his club MFM FC, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Odey has been linked with a move to Danish side Copenhagen and Scottish side Celtic, but only Russian side Kuban Krasnodar have made an official contract to the 19 year old according to the club.
The offer from Kuban Krasnodar was accepted by Odey and his representatives as exclusively reported by this portal few days ago, and it appears the forward has left the shores of Nigeria without the knowledge of his team.
According to coach of the team Fidelis IIechukwu the 14 goal striker, left the team without informing anybody in the club about his possible destination. A situation which the manager felt was badly handled by his advisers.
” I’m not aware of his whereabouts, I feel travelling out at this time will not help his career. You have a chance to train with the Super Eagles and maybe make the team, it’s only normal you consider it ahead of a move abroad”, Ilechukwu said.
” Odey travelling out at this time is not the best for his career, if you ask me I think his representatives should have handled his next move better than they did”.
