Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Opens Goal Account For Dutch Side With Late Winner

Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first goal for his loan side NEC Nijmegen to hand them all three points against Europa League hopefuls AZ Alkmaar.

The Nigerian was introduced ‎with seven minutes left to play in the game, and scores tied at 1-1 despite Alkmaar playing with one man less following a sending off.

Five minutes after his introduction, the on loan Liverpool man headed home a cross to score what ended as the winner for his team to ease their relegation worries.

The goal was his first goal for the team since moving to the team in the summer on a season long loan from Liverpool, he celebrated the goal excessively by taking up his shirt and earning a booking in the process.

In the same game, Nigerian striker Fred Friday started and played the entire duration of the game for AZ Alkmaar but failed to add to his season tally of six goals so far in the league.
