On loan Liverpool forward Taiwo Awoniyi has lifted the lid on his recent run of two goals in two games for his loan side NEC Nijmegen after going close to seven months without a goal.
19 year old Awoniyi is on a season long loan from Liverpool to the Dutch side who are struggling to remain in the elite division, and the Nigerian has played a part in their quest for survival with two goals in his last two games.
” First of all I want to say God almighty should take the credit for my recent run of form. That said I think knowing you have the trust of the coach has helped me. The new manager has lifted my spirit”, Awoniyi told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” Secondly my teammates now understand me better. They play to my strength, it took a while for them to get used to me but I believe they understand how I want balls played to me now.
” We have to approach our remaining game like a cup final. The way we played in our last game shows the positive spirit we have in the team now, by the grace of God, our fans will smile big at the end of the season.
