Super Eagles dependable defender Leon Balogun has suffered an injury setback ahead of Nigeria’s friendly game against Corsica in France on the 26th of May.
The Mainz 05 defender went off injured in the opening 30 minutes of their game against Cologne with what looked like a hamstring injury.
Balogun only recently regained his spot in the starting line up of Mainz 05 after struggling with injuries since the start of the year.
The length of time he will spend on the sideline is yet to be determined, but he looks set to miss the Eagles friendly game against Corsica, and even Togo on the 1st of June.
However he could be fit for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against South Africa in Uyo on the 10th of June. He is the favourite of coach Gernot Rohr with his partnership with William Troost-Ekong earning them the nickname “Oyibo Wall”.
