Out of favour Super Eagles striker Brown Ideye was at his best for his Chinese side Tianjin Teda on Friday night as his brace helped then snap a winless run courtesy of a 2-1 win over Shanghai Shenhua.
Former Super Eagles forward Obafemi Martins opened scoring for Shanghai Shenhua 11 minutes into the game before Ideye cancelled out his strike eight minutes before the half time break.
Tianjin Teda winless streak was on the verge of getting extended to seven games before Ideye struck again in the 89th minute to give them only their second win in the absence of influential former Chelsea ace Mikel.
The brace took Ideye’s goal tally to four this season, while the win helped Teda move to 8th on the log with 13 points from their first 11 games of the season in the Chinese Super League.
Meanwhile 32 year old Martins took his season goal tally to 4 in six games with Shanghai Shehua lone goal despite his team languishing in 12th position after 11 games.
