A top scout from French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Lyon was among the spectators at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium when Nigeria lost 0-2 to South Africa on Saturday in the 2019 AFCON Qualifiers.
Owngoalnigeria.com gathered from sources at Portuguese club CD Feirense that the scout was at the game to run the rule on their forward Oghenekaro Etebo who lasted the entire duration of the game.
Etebo has been heavily linked with a host of teams but it appears Lyon are ahead of the chasing pack in the race to sign the 23 year old who moved to CD Feirense 18 months ago.
” Lyon watched him against South Africa, but we are yet to hear from them. Etebo is available but clubs need to meet our asking price, it’s the same with almost every player in the world”, a club source told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” He is a quality player who will certainly move to a big club if not now then maybe later. For now the interest is there but no firm bid yet, when it comes we will treat it with the respect it deserves”.
