Portuguese top division side Rio Ave have secured the future of promising Nigerian midfielder Kelechi John by tying him down on a five year contract, the club has announced.
Kelechi joined the club last season after a successful trial, but spent the entirety of last season with the B team where his performances have now earned him a five year deal at the modest Portuguese side.
The midfielder who is blessed with a rare technically ability and imposing presence, which gives him an edge in aerial duel did impressively well in the 13 games he played for the club even though he hardly understands the Portuguese language.
He reveals his happiness at finally living his dream of being a professional football as according to him football is his life, and he cant imagine what his life would have been like without football.
Speaking further he said is aim is to break into the starting eleven next season just like he did with the B team last season, but admits he doesn’t expect it to be easy due to the quality of players he is up against.
