President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick Melvin has sent words of encouragement to Super Eagles goalkeeper Carl Ikeme who has been diagnosed with Acute Leukaemia.
Acute Leukaemia is popularly referred to as blood cancer, and it ranks among some of the terminal illness recognised by medical practitioners as it affects the blood.
It was discovered that the Nigerian is suffering from the ailment during a routine medical check up at his club as they gear up for the commencement of their pre season training.
“We at the NFF heard, with heavy hearts, the devastating news of Super Eagles goalie, Carl Ikeme’s diagnosis of acute leukemia. As devastating as this is, we also know Ikeme possesses the fighting spirit associated with Nigerians. We are behind Carl completely.
“We believe this strength will see Ikeme through. Stay strong Ikeme and have faith. You will beat this like a champion.The Nigerian football fraternity and indeed the world, pray for Ikeme as he faces this tough but not impossible journey. We believe” he posted on twitter.
