Head coach of French Ligue 1 side Claudio Ranieri has given his view on their recent capture of Nigerian defender Chidozie Awaziem on a loan deal from FC Porto.
Awaziem completed his season long loan move to the French Ligue 1 side on Wednesday as part of the deal which saw former Nantes boss Sergio de Conceicao moved over to FC Porto.
Ranieri speaking to the media in France, hailed the acquisition of the 20 year old defender and also praised his abilities to play in more than one role as a key factor why the club pushed to sign him at all cost.
” We needed to bring in an extra defender, and a player from a club like Porto and at his age shows we have gotten a bright prospect in Awaziem. He can play in more than one role and it will surely give us options.
” He (Awaziem) is just 20 but has played for the senior national team of Nigeria. He will receive a very good education with us and hopefully become the player he is destined to be”.
