Orlando Pirates fans will get so a bit of why Nigeria Rio 2016 safe hands Emmanuel Daniel is highly rated by football followers in Nigeria as he is set for his first start since joining the team.

Daniel is highly favoured to be between the sticks when they take on Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup on the 29th of this month, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The 23 year old has impressed the handlers of the team during training drills in the build up to the game. The young shot stopper is among the names coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is considering for a call up for the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon.

Rohr is a strong admirer of the talent of the former Enugu Rangers man due to his sterling displays for Nigeria at the Olympics, but he has left him out of his squad due to the transfer quagmire that cost him games at Orlando Pirates.

Carl Ikeme’s unfortunate Leukaemia diagnosis has once again open the door for the man who has trained twice with the Super Eagles under Rohr to be given a look in particularly after the duo of Dele Alampasu and Ikechukwu Ezenwa fail to push Daniel Akpeyi for the second choice spot.

Informed sources also revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com that Daniel might be favoured ahead of Akpeyi who might not get a look in for the Cameroon game after his howlers in the 0-2 loss to South Africa, but there’s the possibility of a return for either Vincent Enyeama or Dele Aiyenugba.
