Chelsea have confirmed the transfer of talented 18 year old Nigerian forward Ike Ugbo to English Championship side Barnsley on a season long loan.
Per a statement on their official website, the blues confirmed the transfer of the forward who finished as top scorer for their development squad last season, and also fired them to the FA Youth Cup with with ten goals as they clinched the title for the fourth consecutive year.
He is widely regraded as one of the bright prospect in the youth set up of Chelsea as he was also part of their success in the previous campaign and helped our Under-19s win back-to-back UEFA Youth League titles in 2015 and 2016.
An England youth international, Ugbo was part of the squad that retained the Toulon Tournament trophy this summer and will join the Championship side for his first experience of senior football.
Although he has represented England at various youth level, he is still eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level, although he is not among the players on the radar of head coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr.
