Super Eagles of Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong who recently moved to Turkish side Bursaspor is slowly becoming a firm fan favourite at the club.
Signed from Belgium side Gent on a three year deal, Ekong opened his goal account with a header against Leeds United in a pre season game two days ago, and the 23 year old put in another fine shift against German side Ingolstadt yesterday.
Ekong was on from start to finish in the game which ended 0-0, and his performance earned him praises from coach Paul Le Guen ,who said Ekong will no doubt help the team in defence next season.
Fans of the team have already given him a new nickname, a nickname which apparently was started by the social media handle of the club when they announced his signing.
He is now referred to by fans of the club as “King Kong”, a name coined out of the famous movie series and his name Ekong, thanks to his domineering abilities in defence.
