Israeli champions Hapoel Be’er Sheva progressed to the next round of the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers with a 3-2 win away to Hungarian side Budapest Honved.
The victory helped them progress to the next round on a goal aggregate of 5-3 after win the first leg played in Israel 2-1, a week ago.
Super Eagles of Nigeria midfield powerhouse John Ogu opened scoring for the Israeli side in the 12th minutes before a brace from his Nigerian counterpart Anthony Nwakaeme sealed the win.
Nwakaeme put Hapoel Be’er Sheva two goals up in the 16th minute but Budapest Honved tied the game up and were looking good for a 2-2 draw before Nwakaeme scored the winner six minutes from full time.
The duo were instrumental in helping Be’er Sheva clinched the Israeli league title last season, with Nwakaeme finishing the season as top scorer for his team while Ogu provided the steel in the midfield during their title run in.
