Former coach of the Nigeria U-17 and 20 team Emmanuel Amuneke has backed the decision of Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola to allow Kelechi Iheanacho leave the club this summer.
Guardiola confirmed the departure of the 20 year old from the club after leaving him out of his squad for Man City pre season tour with Leicester City favourite to land him for a fee in the region of £19m
“Every player wants to play and I know Kelechi wants same. It is now left for the player’s representatives to work out the best deal for the young lad.
“Kelechi has to work hard at this point in time, he shouldn’t be carried away because he is in Barcelona, Chelsea, PSG or Man City.
“He shouldn’t feel he has arrived, because he has a long way to go. He is still a very young player but he has to work harder because there are other players that want to play in every club. For him to be a starter and a favorite for every coach, he must be determined to use his ability and level of competitiveness,” said Amuneke.
