Oghenekaro Etebo marked his return to full fitness with a goal for modest Portuguese side CD Feirense in their 1-0 win over Varzim in a pre season friendly.
Etebo missed two weeks of training after picking up a knock in training, but showed no sign of rustiness when he smashed home a low finish to earn his side a slim win in the high profile friendly game.
Linked with a move away from the Portuguese side, he has somehow resigned to playing this season at the club where he is sure to get game time than move to another team where he might not get much playing time, particularly due to national team duties.
He has grown into one of the key players for the senior national team of Nigeria, and has played a vital role in their fine start to the World Cup 2018 Qualifiers, where they are presently leading their group with six points from two games.
Nigeria will take on second place Cameroon in back to back games in the next round of qualifiers and Etebo is among the players coach Gernot Rohr is hoping to use in the tie to help extend Nigeria’s four point lead over the indomitable Lions.
