Coach of newly promoted German Bundesliga side Hannover 96 has confirmed their interest in out of favour Super Eagles striker Anthony Ujah who currently plays for Chinese side Lioaning.
Horst Heldt also confirmed interest on the part of the 26 year old forward in moving to the German side, but his Chinese team who paid around €5m for his services last summer are not willing to let him leave.
Ujah is reportedly keen on a move back to Germany to help boost his chances at representing Nigeria at the World Cup 2018 in Russia, as a move to a league that he is familiar with like the Bundesliga will no doubt enhance his chances of earning a recall to the Nigeria senior national team.
However Heldt said the move is not dependent on his club or the player as the Chinese side have made it known that Ujah won’t be sold this summer, but they will listen to offers for him in January.
” They are four parties involved in the transfer of Ujah, player, his agent and ourselves (Hannover 96) as well as the selling club. Three parties agreed but Lioaning blocked the transfer for very good reason”, Heldt said.
” Fact is they refused our offer for a summer transfer. It’s just that we want the player and he wants to come to us. But we will see what happens in January “.
