On loan FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem has been voted the best player on the pitch for his loan side Nantes in their 0-1 loss to Marseille in the French Ligue 1 over the weekend.
Awaziem was handed his first start by coach Claudio Ranieri and the 20 year old Nigeria international defender didn’t disappoint as he put up a commendable show at the back.
Playing as part of a back three, the Jos born defender was dominant in aerial duels and solid in tackles during the course of the game, and fans of the team have voted him their man of the match.
Owngoalnigeria.com checks on their fans forum can reveal he was voted by most of the fans with many unhappy that the club were not given the option to buy him permanently in the summer after his loan spell.
Known for his pace, aerial strength and ball distribution, the two cap Nigeria international has a release clause of €20m inserted in his contract when he extended his contract with Porto two seasons ago.
