Striker Who Wants To Play For Nigeria Ahead Of Belgium Speaks On Rohr & Super Eagles

Cyril Dessers who has opt to play for Nigeria ahead of Belgium had a chat with chief editor Osas Mahawi shortly after helping Utrecht to a 1-0 win over Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League Qualifiers.

The 22 year old forward spoke on contact with the senior national team coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr as well as his fine start to the season with a brace to his name in their opening day 3-0 win over ADO Den Haag in the Dutch League.

OGN – Congratulations on the 1-0 win over Zenith St. Petersburg.

Dessers – Thank you very much, It wasn’t the best result we could have, and we tried all we could but we had to settle for it and do better in the return leg in Russia.

OGN – Are you confident about the chances of your team in the return leg in Russia?

Dessers – I hope we can get a good result over there. That would be spectacular.

OGN – Before the game Branislav Ivanovic mentioned you as a threat. How did you feel about it?

Dessers -‎ It was fun to hear that, but it’s only the beginning for me. I have to prove myself now.

OGN – Do you see yourself as the classic number 9 that the coach of Nigeria ‎said he is looking for?

Dessers – I really can’t say because there are other really good strikers, so it won’t be easy.

OGN – You scored a brace against ADO Den Haag, did you get to speak with Nigeria international Tyronne Ebuehi after the game?

Dessers – No just greetings, because there were also a lot of interviews, unfortunately.

OGN– Any contact from the NFF or the coach of the Nigerian national team in the last few months.

Dessers – No contact at all, from the last time I was
‎contacted about the possibility of playing for Nigeria no contact has been made since then.
