The president of Italian Serie A side Torino Urbano Cairo has revealed the reason why the club signed 20 year old Nigerian forward Sadiq Umar on loan from Roma.
Sadiq was officially unveiled as a player of the Serie A side yesterday in a loan deal that gives Torino the power to sign him permanently in the summer, but Roma also have the option of buying him back.
A lot of reason regarding why Sadiq was signed has been mooted with some saying the possible departure of Torino’s star striker Andrea Belloti could be a factor in their capture of the Nigeria Rio 2016 Olympics top scorer.
” Umar Sadiq is a top prospect, a young forward who in the last two seasons has already matured into a technical player. He has also have international experience with Nigeria where he helped them to the bronze medal at the Rio Olympics”, Cairo said.
” Due to his height, he is very dangerous in the air and that will give us an advantage in aerial duels, so you can say these features are part of why we signed him to add value to our attack and the team overall.
“On behalf of the whole family of Torino including the fans we are saying welcome to the family of Torino FC to Sadiq Umar “.
Responding the soft speaking Kaduna based star said he is grateful for the trust shown in him by the team, and promise to deliver in their colours and take them to new heights this season.
