The goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Daniel Akpeyi is no longer the first choice goalkeeper of Premier South Africa League (PSL) side Chippa United.
Akpeyi has not featured any of their games this season and there’s no report of the goalkeeper nursing any form of injury either from the player or the club.
Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal that the goalkeeper failed to make the matchday squad for their first league game of the season against Orlando Pirates, a game they lost 0-1.
Brighton Mhlongo kept goal in the game while Zama Happy Dlamini was on the bench for the club, the second time the duo have been preferred ahead of the Nigerian.
However the 31 year old is still in the plans of the senior national team coach of Nigeria Gernot Rohr who has the player on the list of players invited for the back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon on the 1st and 4th of September.
