Man City Newboy Kayode Understands Why He Was Dropped By Nigeria For WCQ


Manchester City new signing Olarewaju Kayode has no issue with the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr after his name wasn’t included in the list of players called up for the back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon.


Kayode who is on loan to La-Liga side Girona wasn’t even on the standby list released by coach as well, the 24 year oldearned a move to Man City after finishing as top scorer in Austria and also winning the best player award with Austria Wien.

He made his debut over the weekend for his loan side Girona and came close to scoring in their 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid in the La-Liga, but the ten minutes cameo he had wasn’t enough to help him force his way into the Nigerian squad.

” He (Kayode) knows why he wasn’t selected. He has only played ten minutes of competitive football this season, and he missed most of the pre season games of his former team Austria Wien, as he was busy navigating his way from the club”, a source told

” All he has to do is knuckle down and work hard at Girona. He knows he is part of the group and the coach Rohr has faith in him, so he understands why he was left out. When he is fully match fit he will definitely return”.
