The goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Daniel Akpeyi is now the third choice goalkeeper of Premier South Africa League (PSL) side Chippa United, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Akpeyi has not featured any of their games this season and there’s no report of the goalkeeper nursing any form of injury either from the player or the club.
Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal that the goalkeeper failed to make the matchday squad for the second league game in a row in the two games old when they defeated Amazulu FC 2- 0.
Just as it was in their first league game of the season against Orlando Pirates, a game they lost 0-1, Brighton Mhlongo kept goal in the game while Zama Happy Dlamini was on the bench for the club.
The duo are now firmly established as the first choice and second choice goalkeepers of Chippa United with the 31 year old Nigerian goalkeeper now third choice.
