Former Nigeria international goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro has given his take on the performance of FC Ifeanyi Uba goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa in Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Cameroon yesterday.
Coach Gernot Rohr fielded the FC Ifeanyi Uba safe hands in the absence of his preferred first choice goalkeepers in Carl Ikeme and Daniel Akpeyi who was passed medically unfit for the Cameroon game.
Babayaro said even though Ezenwa wasn’t tested he rose up to the occasion the few times he was called into action, but believes sterner test awaits the goalkeeper in the Eagles remaining games.
” He did well the few times he was called into action. He was decisive in dealing with crosses and his confidence level was really high for a man playing at that stage for the first time”, Babayaro told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” I however feel the Cameroonians didn’t create any moment that should trouble any goalkeeper. We will now his true worth against teams who are better in attack than Cameroon. A goalkeeper is as good as his defence. That said I will rate him seven out of ten”.
