ADO Den Haag full back Tyrone Ebuehi is one player which Nigeria pulled all the stop to get to commit his future to the senior national team despite his eligibility to play for Hollandm


Ebuehi snubbed the initial invitation to join up with the senior national team of Nigeria, but the 20 year old subsequently had a change of mind and has since been part of the squad thrice.

However aside appearing in the friendly games against Togo and Corsica, the defender who is comfortable as a right or left full back is yet to make his competitive debut for Nigeria.

Recently he watched from the bench in Nigeria’s back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers clash against Cameroon, and it has lead to talks on if he is still in the plans of coach Gernot Rohr.

” Ebuehi is very much in the plans of Rohr. He knows it and very soon he will be given the chance to play in a competitive game. You have to introduce him slowly else you destroy his confidence “, a backroom staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed.

” He is really quick but the physical nature of African football is what he is gradually getting used to. It’s a slow process, he was educated the Dutch way where emphasis is less on physical duels. So he need time to adjust to African football befeore he is thrown into the deep end”.
