The reason why on loan Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali Is yet to start a game for his loan side VVV Venlo has been revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com.


Nwakali joined the Dutch side few days to the end of the summer transfer window but despite scoring on his debut after coming on as a substitute in their 1-1 draw against Groningen , he was ‎once again named on the bench for their last league game against Vitesse Arnhem.

The 19 year old came off the bench and played the final 15 minutes of the game which ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning he is yet to taste victory since his move to the club.

Although he hasn’t disappointed in the games he has been introduced as a substitute, coach Maurice Steijn is yet to hand him a start as the midfielder is yet to reach full fitness.

” He didn’t play a single minute of pre season, so the coach is slowly brining him up to speed by giving him game time to build up his fitness before handing him a start”, a source close to the player told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” No doubt he will get to start games but for now he need to pick up odd minutes to regain his sharpness after missing out on games while his team-mates were busy with pre season games”.
