Shehu Abdullahi went from the high of winning the Man of the Match award for Nigeria in their 1-0 win over Zambia last weekend to the low of taking the walk of shame for his team Anorthosis Famagusta.
Abdullahi started but only lasted 37 minutes after he was shown a straight red card for a tackle deemed as dangerous in their 1-1 draw against Apollon Limassol.
Ever present for the Cypriot side, the 24 year old will however be glad that his sending off didn’t cost his team all three points as a strike from Gordon Schilddenfeld in the 71st minutes rescued a point for his team.
The sending off means he will be suspended for the next three domestic games of the club, which will coincide with when he is expected to resume camp for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their World Cup 2018 Qualifiers dead rubber tie against Algeria next month.
