Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun will once again wear protective face mask for a period of time after suffering a fractured cheek bone injury against Schalke04.
Balogun was on from the start for his Bundesliga side Mainz 05 but had to come off after 78 minutes in the game which they lost 0-2 after suffering a suspected crack on his cheek.
Last season he suffered similar fate in one of Mainz 05 games and had to wear protective face mask for a period of time before finally taking the mask off after his full recovery.
The period of time he will spend on the sidelines is not known yet, but it could be up to three weeks and if that is the case, it will effectively rule him out of the Super Eagles World Cup 2018 Qualifiers tie against Algeria next month.
He could yet make the game if his club and team doctors give him the all clear to play with a protective mask between now and a week time when the list for the game against Algeria is expected to be released by coach Gernot Rohr.
