On loan Manchester City striker Olarewaju Kayode has won his first individual award in the Spanish La-Liga after he was voted as Man of the Match in Girona’s 2-1 win away to Deportivo La Coruna.
Kayode who was immediately farmed out on loan by Manchester City shortly after he was signed from Austrian side Austria Vienna was by far the liveliest player on the pitch during the course of the game at Deportivo’s Estadio Municipal de Riazor stadium.
Although he is still searching for his first goal in the colours of Girona, the forward who scored 24 goals for Austria Vienna last season won the spot kick from which Girona scored their first goal of the game.
His pace drew a foul by Raul Abentosa in the box of Deportivo La Coruna, and Aday converted from the spot to put Girona one goal up.. Twenty minutes before the end of the Kayode was at it again, this time around he teed up Cristian Portu who finished smartly to put Girona 2-1 up.
Girona hanged on to claim a memorable 2-1 win at a difficult ground with Kayode part of the reasons why they were able to secure the win which helped them snapped a run of three games without a win.
