Deportivo La Coruna 18 year old goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho who has risen to the role of first choice of the La-Liga side is in line for a call up to the senior national team of Nigeria.
Uzoho who maintained his position in goal for Deportivo La Coruna yesterday in their 1-2 loss to Girona in the La-Liga is being lined up for the upcoming friendly game against Argentina in Russia.
Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr is yet to make a decision on the inclusion of Ikechukwu Ezenwa who is currently on holiday following the conclusion of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Sources close to Rohr revealed that the coach has long rely on players eho are active with their club sides and Ezenwa is presently on break, and that could see him miss out on the squad for the games against Algeria and Argentina.
Ezenwa’s exclusion according to our source will pave the way for Rohr to call up Uzoho, who has so far impressed in the two games he has played for the first team of Deportivo La Coruna.
Uzoho, Daniel Akpeyi and possibly Dele Alampasu are for now the three goalkeepers who are likely to be called up although Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel is also under consideration.
