Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr won’t be calling up any replacement for the injured Odion Ighalo who has been ruled out of Nigeria’s upcoming games against Algeria and Argentina.
Ighalo is the favourite of Eagles coach Rohr as point man of the Super Eagles, and the coach wanted to stick by him for the games later this month, but an injury picked up by the player during his club last game has ruled him out for two weeks.
However despite having six players on standby, the Chanchung Yatai striker won’t be replaced by any player as Rohr already has enough players in the list to make up for the absence of any player.
Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to lead the line for Nigeria in both games. A chance for the 21 year old to reclaim his top striker role from Ighalo who has benched him in the Eagles last three games.
Anthony Nwakaeme is another player who is also pushing to lead the Eagles attack in the games as Rohr loves the physical style of play of the Hapoel Be’er Sheva forward, with on loan Everton forward Henry Onyekuru another option.
