Former Nassarawa United and Plateau United left foot dazzler Philip Azango scored his first goal for his new team AS Trencin of Slovakia in their 8-1 thrashing of Zeleziame Podbrezova.
Azango was playing in his third league game for the team but his first start since joining the team from Nigeria Premier League champions Plateau United few weeks ago.
He justified the decision of the coach to start him by putting them 7-0 ahead in the 62nd minute of the 8-1 thrashing of Zeleziame Podbrezova in front of their fans at their homeground the Stadium ZPSPORT/Kolkaren.
The fleet footed left winger was replaced in the 85th minute by another Nigerian in Abdul Zubairu, just like Azango the other Nigerian at the club Hilary Gong was replaced in the 70th minute as well.
Trencin have a rich connection with Nigerian players thanks to British agent Tony Harris who has close ties with the Slovakian side from where the likes of Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu, Kingsley Madu and Aliko Bala started their European careers.
