Coach of Spanish La-Liga side Deportivo La Coruna has explained the reason why newly invited Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho was demoted to the B team of the La-Liga outfit.
Uzoho kept goal in back to back La-Liga game under sacked coach Pepe Mel but since the appointment of Cristobal Parralo in caretaker capacity Uzoho has failed to make the matchday squad.
Parralo has settled for the experienced duo of Przemyslaw Tyton and Costel Pantilimon, while the Nigerian has been demoted back to the B team who are campaigning in the third division in Spain.
” The team is in a difficult situation right now, and the coach feels it’s not the right time to throw in an 18 year old at the deep end”, Spanish journalist Jonas told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” He was asked about the demotion of Uzoho, I think in one of his pre match conference shortly after Uzoho was called up to the senior national team of Nigeria and his explanation was same like I said earlier.
” At 18 he has done well to progress to the first team after just six months at the club, nice footwork and good reflexes but language is a big barrier for him, because his Spanish isn’t up there yet, and as you know communication is key between goalkeeper and defenders”.
