Out of favour Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose is in line for a shock recall to the Super Eagles if he maintains his current form for Scottish side Hibernian.
Ambrose left Celtic for the newly promoted outfit on a permanent deal after spending six months on loan in their successful attempt to gain promotion to the Scottish Premier League.
The Nigerian who is reunited with coach Neil Lennon who signed him to Celtic in 2013 has so far proved to be a bargain signing for Hibs considering he joined them on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Celtic.
29 year old Ambrose has impressed mightily for Hibs in the heart of their defence which has kept three consecutive clean sheets, and his form has alerted the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr.
” He (Efe) has played his way into the list of players who are to be closely monitored for future call ups. He need to keep improving and above all be at his best for the remaining part of the season”, a source close to the coach told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” In defence, experience is key especially when going to the World Cup and Efe has it but form is also vital so he will be monitored from time to time. As said by Rohr the plan is to have Nigeria’s best legs at the World Cup in Russia next year “.
